During 1951 the inflation rate was 7%. During this period we would require a return of 10% to invest into long-term government bonds. Note that these bonds were returning 3%. We believe that this was because investors feared the next depression. Note that stocks were able to meet our requirement to invest into equity and were priced accurately.
